Oh, has 14-11 uncovered a secret no-one else knows?

Most of what 14 says is a secret that no-one else knows. Even after he's told us...

Did you follow the link he gave?

Can I get an own topic in the General Banter-section, without having to create it by myself? Making sense isn't a quality of the usual friendly string puppets.

I think 14-11-2014 is Colin in disguise...

How can we talk about qi scoring and not mention Colin, the bane of David Mitchell's Qi appearances???

For more info on the scoring, you just need to refer to http://qi.com/behind-the-scenes/bts-scoring/

Perfectly simple

There is no lowest point on land in continental Western Europe, open-pit mines excluded. Europe's matching lowest point is the Caspian Sea shore, -28 m. There are two lowest points, -7 m. Lammefjord, Denmark and Zuidplaspolder, Holland. It's a tie.

If the Caspian Sea shore counts as a point, then so should the coastline around Europe, although there are parts of Holland behind dykes that are lower than that, so how can you say that there is no lowest point in Western Europe?

Is it that this point on the Caspian Sea shoreline is only the lowest point at low tide*, with other points being lower when it's at high tide?

PDR

* I know the Caspian Sea doesn't actually have tides as such, but it does have wind-driven variations called "seiches" which are a similar sort of thing - at least that what Douglas Carswell told me and he's an acknowledged verbal commentator on the topic

Not really sure what he's getting at here (big surprise!)

That the lowest point on Earth isn't in Western Europe? Hardly surprising.

That there is no point in Western Europe lower than everywhere else in Western Europe? Possible but there would at least be some places that tied for "lowest point", there would have to be.

That the lowest point in Western Europe isn't in fact the lowest point in Western Europe?

The Malka River originates in the glaciers on the northern slopes of Mount Elbrus (highest point in Europe) and empties ( via The Terek River) into the Caspian Sea ( lowest point in Europe).
Quite a roller coaster.

The race distance of an ITU Long Distance triathlon (min. 1+100+10=111 km) can be less than the race distance of an ITU Middle Distance triathlon (max. 3+90+21=114 km).
